Service Description

This 4-week workshop series is crafted for new mums (post-6-week check or 8–10 weeks for C-section) and their newborns to support postnatal recovery, early baby development, and bonding through gentle exercise workshops, baby movement activities, and baby massage. Each 90-minute workshop, led by a certified pre- and postnatal specialist trained in, child development (MHSc), physiotherapy, Pilates, and baby massage, integrates all three components for a focused, nurturing experience. The course is baby-led, allowing time for feeding, changing, or soothing, and fosters a supportive community for mums. Participants require a Pilates resistance band (medium resistance, latex-free preferred) for mum’s exercises, plus baby-safe massage oil and a blanket for baby activities. Workshops can be delivered in-person (at The Globe, Uttoxeter) or online via Google Meet. Duration: 4 weeks, with one 90-minute workshop per week, combining gentle mobility and postural exercise for mum, baby movement, and baby massage in a single, intensive session. Who It’s For: New mums post-6-week check (or 8–10 weeks for C-section) and their newborns. Suitable for all fitness levels, with modifications for early postnatal recovery. Consult a GP or midwife before starting. Goals: • For Mums: Rebuild pelvic floor and core strength, improve posture, and enhance mental well-being through gentle, workshop-style exercises using a Pilates resistance band. • For Babies: Support early physical and sensory development through gentle movement and foster bonding through nurturing touch. • For Both: Strengthen the mum-baby connection in a relaxed, community-focused environment. Equipment Needed: • Pilates Resistance Band: Medium resistance (4.5–9 kg/10–20 lbs), 1.5–2 m long, preferably latex-free fabric (e.g., Theraband, CTRL Sports). • Baby-Safe Massage Oil (Organic grapeseed or organic cold pressed jojoba oil), or current moisturiser/balm (fragrance-free, hypoallergenic products specifically formulated for infants), or non toxic talc (cornstarch). • Additional: Yoga mat, soft blanket for baby, and a journal for reflections.

Cancellation Policy

Postnatal Yoga & Pilates Policy Cancellation Policy: No Cancellations: Once enrolled, cancellations are not permitted. All participants will receive a live recording of the class for access at their convenience. This allows for all content to be accessed. Eligibility Requirements: To ensure the safety and well-being of all participants, the following conditions must be met: Medical Clearance: Participants must have clearance from their medical provider to return to physical exercise. Health Declaration: Participants will complete a return to exercise form before the start to disclose any relevant medical conditions. No Ongoing Complications: Participants should not have any ongoing medical complications resulting from childbirth. Postnatal Period: Participants should be at least 6 weeks postnatal (10-12 week for caesarean). Health Monitoring: Participants must lower the intensity or STOP the practice if they experience any of the following: Heaviness or dragging in the pelvic area (which might indicate prolapse) Leaking urine or inability to control bowel movements Pendular abdomen or noticeable gap along the midline of your abdominal wall (indicative of Diastasis Rectus Abdominis (DRA)) Pelvic or lower back pain Ongoing or increased blood loss beyond 8 weeks postnatal that is not linked to your monthly cycle Communication: Please feel free to contact me if you have any concerns or questions before, during, or after the class.
